Officials claimed at least nine persons were killed and numerous others were injured in a big blast at a firecracker plant in West Bengal’s West Medinipur district on Tuesday morning. Meanwhile, on the instruction of the state government, the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has launched an investigation into the event.
Sources claim that after the state government turned over the case to CID, a team from Kolkata’s Criminal Investigation Department (CID) arrived at the scene at 9.45 p.m. on Tuesday and immediately began an investigation with the aid of forensic specialists. Amarnath K, the superintendent of police in East Medinipur, stated, “To date, 9 bodies have been recovered, and investigations are ongoing to determine whether any further people were murdered in the incident. Egra Super Speciality Hospital sent two patients who were critically hurt in this incident to SSKM in Kolkata.
“It was a factory for illegal factory. In the past, this factory has also been the target of three to four cases. Despite numerous raids, the accused continued to run it. The suspect, identified as Krishnapada Bagh aka Bhanu Bagh, is being sought for, the SP added.
