Sudarsan Pattnaik a world renowned odiya sand artist has released his latest art work to wish the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) success with its latest space mission — the third moon lander, Chandrayaan-3, which is slated to launch from Sriharikota later on Friday. Pattnaik installed 500 steel bowls and dishes with the inscription “Vijayee Bhava” (Be Victorious) at Puri beach in Odisha on Thursday, creating a 22-foot-long sand art of Chandrayaan 3.
The countdown to the launch of Chandrayaan-3, India’s third lunar exploration mission, which would make it only the fourth country to land a spacecraft on the moon’s surface, began on Thursday at 14:35:17 IST, ahead of its scheduled departure on Friday from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota. The spacecraft will be launched on a heavy-lift launch vehicle called the GSLV Mark 3 (LVM 3).
This will be a sort of redemption mission for ISRO, as its last Chandrayaan-2 mission in 2019 failed due to unexpected difficulties during its soft landing attempt. The ISRO has completed the ‘Launch Rehearsal’ simulation of the whole launch preparation and process.
