The world’s largest and most contemporary hub for the international diamond and jewelry trade was opened by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday. Shortly after the new integrated terminal building at the Surat airport was opened, Modi opened Surat Diamond Bourse. This building can accommodate 1,200 domestic and 600 international passengers during peak hours, with additional capacity to handle 3,000 passengers during peak hours and 55 lakh passengers annually.
