Today Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi delivered a video message to the G20 energy ministers meeting in Goa. The PM welcomed the visitors to India and stated that any conversation about the future, sustainability growth and development is lacking without mentioning energy because it affects the development of people and countries at all levels.
The Prime Minister emphasized that, despite the fact that each country has a unique reality and path for undergoing an energy transition he is adamant that all nations share the same objectives. In throwing light on India’s efforts in green growth and energy transition he made note of the fact despite being the world’s most populous country and having the world’s fastest-growing big economy, India is making significant progress towards its climate pledges.
The Prime Minister said that India had surpassed its installed non-fossil electric capacity goal nine years earlier and has set an even higher goal for the country. He stated that by 2030, the country aims to have 50% of its installed capacity come from non-fossil sources.
