Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke about the violence that has been raging in Manipur for the past two months on Thursday. The PM remarked of the video showing two women parading in manipur, ” I am filled with pain, and the incident is shameful for any civil society, No accused will be spared and we will never forgive those who are behind this’ he declared.
Before the Monsoon session of the Parliament began today, Prime Minister Modi told reporters, “This is a horrible incident for any society. Who did this and who is guilty is another question, but this has brought disgrace upon our country. I beg all chief ministers to enforce law and order more strictly. The question of a woman’s honour is above other political issues, whether it be in Rajasthan, Chattisgarh, or Manipur.
In the meantime, a number of opposition MPs have circulated notices in both the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha calling for talks on the situation in Manipur in response to a recent uproar over a widely shared video showing two women being paraded.
