When the Windows 11 Moment 2 update was released last year, Microsoft debuted tabbed File Explorer. But shortly after the update was released, a lot of customers began to report that while using other programs, the File Explorer window would occasionally appear in the foreground. However, about a year after the tech giant released the Windows 11 22H2 upgrade, Microsoft appears to have finally acknowledged and resolved the issue in a quiet manner with the December 2023 update (KB5033375).
“This update addresses an issue that affects File Explorer windows,” read the update release notes. They come into view unexpectedly and take center stage. Some users reported that the bug caused File Explorer to suddenly appear in the forefront every hour or so. The problem pushed File Explorer into the foreground automatically, regardless of the application you are using or whether it was open.
A few users even believed that a hacker had gained access to their machine because File Explorer would suddenly appear during a presentation or meeting. Although the problem was not mentioned in the official release notes for Windows 11 22H2 or 23H2, Microsoft finally acknowledged it in Windows 11 Build 23403, which was released in March of this year.
