According to Variety, a US-based media outlet, the actor, who hasn’t been seen in public since his lengthy court battle with ex-girlfriend Amber Heard in 2022, received a seven-minute standing ovation on Tuesday night at the Cannes Film Festival’s opening night film Jeanne Du Barry’.
When Maiwenn, the film’s director and star, momentarily took the stage, she fell into tears. “I want to share this moment with my lover, the producer, and Le Pacte,” she said. “It was a challenging production to fund… and I’d like to share this moment with my entire crew throughout the theatre.”
Thousands of fans cheered as Depp arrived in Cannes. They carried posters outside the Palais and trembled as they tried to hug their hero. Depp supervised the fan line outside for five minutes before walking the carpet, and many people had the chance to talk with him.
