INS Sujata, a vessel of Southern Naval Command, Kochi, visited the port of Maputo, Mozambique, during a foreign assignment March 19-21, 23. The vessel was met by Capt. Nitin Kapoor, DA Pretoria, commander of the NRN Siva Babu . Coast Guard Float Support Team and Capt. Florentino Jose #039; Narcissus of the Mozambique Navy between Mozambique Navy Band bands and traditional dancing on the pier.
Rear Admiral Eugenio Dias Da Silva Muatuca, Commander of the Mozambique Navy, Mr. Eneas Da Conceicao Comiche, was called by the commanding officer of INS Sujata. Several other military and civilian dignitaries were present, including the mayor of Maputo and His Excellency Sri Ankan Banerjee, the Indian High Commissioner.
The Mozambican Navy sent about 40 personnel to the ship for Cross Deck Training, which included a tour of the training facilities, a briefing on diving operations, training with VBSS and light weapons, visual communication, and maintenance of the ship’s machinery and hygienic conditions. Several more events, including a joint morning yoga class and a soccer game, were planned for the crews of the two Navies.
