In order to build an Automatic Weather Station (AWS) at the IGNOU Maidan Garhi Campus in New Delhi, the Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) and the India Meteorological Department (IMD) of the Ministry of Earth Sciences signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on January 12.
In the presence of Dr. Charan Singh, Dr. S. D. Kotal, Dr. Vivek Dhawan, and Dr. Sanjeev Tyagi from IMD, Dr. Alok Chaube, Registrar, IGNOU, and Dr. Charan Singh, DDMG, RIMC, IMD signed the paper, according to a news release from IGNOU.
The Automatic Weather Station (AWS) at IGNOU Headquarters could help faculty, researchers, and students from a variety of disciplines, including geography, geology, geoinformatics, environmental sciences, agriculture, and more, with project work and research involving meteorological and environmental data, according to Prof. Meenal Mishra, Director, School of Sciences. Prof. Mishra continued, “It might also be helpful for raising awareness among the local community.” Prof. Nageshwar Rao, Vice Chancellor, commended the School of Sciences for starting many Master’s programs and stated that researchers and students would find value in the data produced by AWS.
